The thing is those are friends, they know you are doing poorly, they are willing to help you gear. Random strangers did not sign up to do that. That is why I would bring a low geared player to a guild flex but not to LFR.

It is a give and take. You carry them, they carry you. Seems fair to me and that is how we do it in my guild too so alts can skip LFR.

In the end, if I was needed on a stronger character I would switch, and that is the important part I guess.TheGrumpyElfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07621615711198405365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9015737272343810105.post-30195750328920850992014-09-09T02:08:16.449-04:002014-09-09T02:08:16.449-04:00You know, it's funny - having just made my fir...You know, it's funny - having just made my first alt ever who is doing horrible Damage in her crappy blue weapon but has timeless stuff, I did not want to subject anybody, even in LFR, to my crappy DPS. But all my guildies asked me if I was bringing my toon to flex. I said no. They asked why. I said it was because her damage was so horrible I didn't want to be a burden.

Howver, my guildies have insisted I bring her along, even though she does 20k dps in her rubbish gear (and my lack of skill) because week after week I take my heroic geared druid to Flex to heal so they can all bring their alts and carry them through the kills to Garrosh. Which is a lovely thought and a great gesture... but tbh I hate being the worst at anything. So in the end I am lucky - I am going to be carried whether I like it or not. So, I guess, I don't mind people bringing their crappy alts to raid but they gotta realise if they're dragging the group down they're gonna be dropped.Navimiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08504557372435466448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9015737272343810105.post-16321224882144694962014-09-03T18:18:01.390-04:002014-09-03T18:18:01.390-04:00Sorry, sometimes when I am not looking the Corps c...Sorry, sometimes when I am not looking the Corps comes out. I ...Being a hunter does spoil you for all casters. I just can not even consider playing one any longer thanks to that. I always feel as if I should be doing better.

ToT should be fine at this stage. I am sure you will be over 50K there easy. And celestial and ordos, go for it, those are meant to gear you up. Should never feel bad for those. The only thing I would not queue for on a world boss for is a tank. The last thing anyone needs is a tank with 400K health on ordos. lol

As for SoO, 100K is fine, someone else here mentioned that will usually get you in the top 5 as sad as that might sound. But it is true.

I get where you are going with that, but I think of it as these are random people. I never carried them, even if I might have carried others. So they owe me nothing. If anything I would try to do better around random people because I have to. I don't know what to expect from them so I need to be able to pull my own weight as well as the weight of others I know will be there.TheGrumpyElfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07621615711198405365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9015737272343810105.post-92079134532063786602014-09-03T13:01:28.510-04:002014-09-03T13:01:28.510-04:00I used my free boost on a frost mage last week, an...I used my free boost on a frost mage last week, and I've gotta say, I'm terrible at him. 45k is my average on a limited movement fight, 60k if Im lucky with procs, but 35k if its is a movement heavy fight. I think I got too used to casting on the move as a hunter, so I'm not timing it right.

Even with this shitty performance however, I am going into ToT and queuing up for celestials to try and get gear. I don't think it makes me a bad person or a bad player in general, it just means I'm shitty at frost mage, right now. With some more experience, I'll probably get faster with my rotation and movement discipline, but I'll never be able to put out 200k+ numbers like on a hunter. 100k dps will be very good for me on a mage, and I'll happily do that in SoO LFR.

I don't think people should be fearful of playing alt classes just because you aren't as good on it as your main. Think of it as a back and forth, give and take, or pay it forward. When you are on your geared main, you are carrying people, and when you are on a less good alt, people are gonna have to carry you for a bit, and then later you'll be able to pull your wait, but no more.

I don't think you should feel burdened to Always make up for the terribads who even on their main do 30k. The carry duties can be shared around a little bit. Doesn't have to be you every time.Troutmonkeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01862533672429720139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9015737272343810105.post-16975560862450449462014-09-03T11:40:04.804-04:002014-09-03T11:40:04.804-04:00Same for me on my rogue, even if I did manage to g...Same for me on my rogue, even if I did manage to get the legendary on it through LFR. I only did certain LFRs once, so I could move to the next, because I felt useless on my rogue. I am not very good at it, but on a fight like horridon I become down right dreadful. I can't do heavy movement add fights as melee. I suck about as much as anyone can suck at something with those types of fights.TheGrumpyElfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07621615711198405365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9015737272343810105.post-72250429620284129402014-09-03T11:22:57.491-04:002014-09-03T11:22:57.491-04:00There is a reason my rogue has never been in an LF...There is a reason my rogue has never been in an LFR even though she has the gear. I don't understand rogue well enough to do decent damage so I don't do group content with her. Including five mans. I will go on a class with bad gear if I know how to play it well enough to feel that I can pull my weight, but I won't go in at all on a class I'm not at least decent with. Even in timeless island gear, if you know how to play the class well and enchant, 130K should not be out of the realm of possibility. I might not be able to pull that off myself (except for on a hunter) but a skilled player could for any class I am sure.

It has been a long time since I did SoO 4, but even in LFR I think if anyone is under 100K they should not be there. That is "end game" for the LFR set. Some standards should be applied.TheGrumpyElfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07621615711198405365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9015737272343810105.post-18081935389290676462014-09-03T11:15:28.777-04:002014-09-03T11:15:28.777-04:00I think I often do that as well. I won't play in random groups until I am over prepared.

If you are on a fresh 90 and someone is giving you grief over it just find someone lower than you in 560 item level, should be easy, and point out you are beating them. ;)

Most of the time people, at least one that think, will notice someone with low gear. Even if all they look at is health. And they can see you doing, say 50K with 380K health and know you are low geared and that is actually very good for your gear.TheGrumpyElfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07621615711198405365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9015737272343810105.post-29439720746733101142014-09-03T10:58:48.102-04:002014-09-03T10:58:48.102-04:00It is one reason why I do not raid with my melee a...It is one reason why I do not raid with my melee alts. Sub-standard DPS is not something I want to be accused of. I like to remain as anonymous in group content as possible.

100 K Dps would normally put you in the top 5 in the LFR's I attend. I have seen some miserable figures in the last few weeks, it is utterly embarrassing to do less than 30 K on the last raid so close to the next expansion.Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15475673092257340904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9015737272343810105.post-33059095013375091252014-09-03T10:55:51.020-04:002014-09-03T10:55:51.020-04:00It's exactly how I play which is why I got in ...It's exactly how I play which is why I got in the habit of not doing groups until I was probably over-prepared. When I do go into LFR or something similar I do the best I can but on a fresh 90 that's going to be relatively low considering and will still get me lumped in with the AFKers, etc. If I get grief about it there's little enough that I can do other than shrug it off, take the gear and know that next time I'll be a bit better.Ambient Shoreshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05940001297753870397noreply@blogger.com
